this was just a quick doodle for ‘Sketch_Dailies' on twitter, for the theme of Joan of Arc.
I had to draw my all time fave joan of arc / generally for childhood nostalgia - from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! I just love the fact that she has this massive jumper with a cross on under her chain mail through the whole film. anyway, here she is!

This is amazing.

There were so many options to choose from with Bill and Ted. Do I do Bogus Journey or Excellent Adventure? Can I do both? What will the bases be? First thought was to make a Sad Keanu joke, and have Ted sitting on the edge of the base. Decided against it because I didn’t know what to do with Bill (and you can’t do one without the other) and I didn’t know if the joke would be clear.

Why Scott Campbell turns classic movie battles into adorable paintings

Well, sometimes films have a whole bunch of potentially great showdowns and I just need to pick my favorite or the most iconic. The battle that Clark Griswold had with those lights was epic; that tangled ball of lights was quite a monster. But the showdowns aren’t always bad intentioned showdowns, sometimes they contain great feelings of love, as we see in the Notebook showdown with Gosling and McAdams looking at each other in the rain. And other times it’s a showdown like Goldblum and the teleporter machine in The Fly where he is about to try the thing out himself and ruin his life. It is all about tension in the moment. That tension could come from absolutely anything. Some of my favorite films still sit un-showdowned because I cannot settle on a good moment. That can be frustrating.
